Logistics of On-site Repairs

North American Clean Energy in its July issue 2023 invited CNC Onsite to author a feature on damaged bushings in the rotor blade roots. These are traditionally difficult to repair on-site in the windpark.

Typically the entire rotor blade was transported to the blade manufacturer to be repaired. This requires costly logistics and many months of downtime.

The article included the root causes of blade root bushing damage.

The article was authored by Søren Kellenberger, Sales Director at CNC Onsite, a Danish machining specialist in the wind energy sector. With a mechanical engineering background, Søren has worked for 15 years in the wind turbine industry, working on turbine development, transport and installations equipment for turbines, and special equipment for O&M. Soren previously worked as Business Unit Director at R&D Engineering, responsible for the market launch of a patented solution “Bolt-check”, a tool that measures correct bolt tension in wind turbines.
