The Spanish “El Periodico de la Energía” reports on CNC Onsite’s blade root repairs

Also a problem on some wind turbines in Spain, loose blade root inserts can now be repaired in the wind park with CNC Onsite’s mobile precision machine. How do you repair loose blade root inserts? This is explained in the article written by El Periodico de la Energía.

Essentially the loose blade root inserts are extracted using the CNC-controlled machine. Then the new part is inserted also using the machine. The blade root replacement parts have been developed by We4Ce, a Dutch rotor blade expert, who patented both the method and the part. An infusion method is used: epoxy resin is infused and distributed around the blade root insert once it has been inserted. A vacuum process then pulls the epoxy resin out which causes it to spread uniformly around the insert, anchoring it in place.
