CNC Onsite to open subsidiary in the U.S. to support uptower maintenance across the continent

Danish machining specialist establishes Houston-based operations, introducing crane-free, uptower repair solutions offering up to 80 percent cost saving of traditional component replacementVEJLE, Denmark, 16 September 2026 — CNC Onsite, a Danish expert in wind-service machining, has announced plans to open a U.S. subsidiary in Houston, Texas. The company’s first international subsidiary will provide its specialized, crane-free uptower repair services, including complex yaw ring and in-situ shaft repairs, directly to U.S. wind turbine parks. The services offer up to 80 percent cost saving compared to traditional component replacement.

Established as CNC Onsite Inc. in Houston, Texas, the subsidiary has already completed its first repair jobs and is fully mobilized to handle further projects across the continent. Providing a quick-response base near the country’s highest concentration of wind parks, the new office in Texas addresses a critical U.S. maintenance bottleneck, to deliver rapid uptower machining services nationwide.

Bypassing the U.S. Heavy Crane Bottleneck

The launch of the U.S. subsidiary comes at a time when wind operators face significant shortages of specialized heavy-lift cranes, causing long maintenance delays. According to CNC Onsite market research, full-scope baseline crane deployment, including specialized road transport, highway permits, and building temporary gravel pads, typically costs in the region of $150,000 to $250,000 per repair job, excluding lost revenue from extended downtime.

Crucially, weather-related delays that keep specialized crews and heavy equipment waiting on site can cause these standby costs to increase significantly.

Independent consultancy CoralPoint, which merged with Danish advisory firm Brinckmann, confirms the strong market demand.

“Our market analysis shows that traditional repair methods represent an enormous financial burden for American operators,” says Carsten Brinck, Senior Partner at CoralPoint and founder of Brinckmann. “The U.S. represents a major market for specialized wind turbine maintenance services. With a large and increasingly mature installed capacity, operators are placing greater emphasis on solutions that can reduce downtime, lower costs, and extend the operating life of existing assets.”

Software-Driven Precision Inside the Nacelle

To minimize reliance on complex ground logistics, CNC Onsite utilizes proprietary, custom-built mobile machining equipment, including patented technologies, engineered specifically for tight uptower environments. Because the high-precision machinery is fully modular, it travels directly into the turbine nacelle using standard internal hoists. Once inside the confined space, a specialized technician supervises the software-driven machinery to execute precise, on-site repairs on components that traditionally required full disassembly, most notably, repairing damaged yaw ring teeth and generator shafts.

An 80 percent cost saving is already proven in Europe, where uptower interventions typically cost just 10 to 20 percent of a full yaw ring replacement. Given the significantly higher crane mobilization fees in North America, CNC Onsite expects to deliver equivalent or even greater cost efficiencies to U.S. operators, driven by higher crane rates and limited equipment availability.

This on-site machining service also tackles blade root bushing damage, a rapidly growing challenge across aging U.S. wind farms. Leveraging an established partnership with Dutch rotor blade designer We4Ce, CNC Onsite restores these safety-critical inserts directly at the wind park to support asset lifetime extension, a proven process that bypasses multi-month blade replacement delays.

To execute these on-site maintenance projects in the U.S., the subsidiary will initially deploy Danish specialist knowledge while actively recruiting a local American workforce of technical experts, blending Danish engineering heritage with new U.S.-based hires to build out a permanent domestic service team.

This North American expansion follows CNC Onsite’s strongest financial performance to date, highlighted by a 74 percent increase in gross profit to DKK 58.7 million in 2025. Over the past decade, the company has grown its workforce sixfold to more than 60 specialists. This momentum provides the organizational strength to scale globally. The establishment of the Houston facility represents a significant long-term capital commitment to the North American wind market.

CNC Onsite will be exhibiting at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026 at Hall B1, Ground Floor, where representatives from executive management and the technical team will be available for interviews and technology demonstrations.
